Pencil ( Verse First - challenge)

Feel the velvet firmness
O dark, grainy, sensual nib
Thoughts flow out of you
Deeply honeyed ribbons of hope
Pressing spiritually against the page
So smooth yet lovingly lined anticipation
Vellum whispers of desires untold
Softly accepting rivers of offerings
Ah, to be marked by you
o sexy sexy Pencil 8B

Poet United's writing challenge: Verse First ~ Edit to Elevate
Writing about a pencil! This is an old poem that I thought would fit this challenge, so i edited it to elevate the verse to something artistic and desirable. Hope it is not too shabby a piece and that I got it right.

It's amazing how something as mundane as the pencil can be brought so alive by words. Lovely writing. :-)

I've never thought of a pencil as spiritually pressing the paper before.

I love your take on the prompt! A pencil is a great tool for a poet, the messenger of hope. Some wonderful lines here, so creative :)

Wow everyone thanks for the feedback and comments :)

Paul: thank you for thinking so. I followed your idea of the kitchen table and first wrote about a door in my house, then thought of editing to elevate this old poem of mine to fit the challenge. Glad you liked it. :)

Laurie: Yes the stationery nut in me came through loud and clear, didn't it... :)

Loredana: The right sort of grainy paper and a perfect pen or pencil can always trigger inspiration for me. Thanks so much for visiting me here and for the kind comments. :)
