Post 3: Are They Still Human If They Automate?

NaPoWriMo 2013

The babble of voices
The demand of economics
The pull of commercial desires
Nihilistic wants that
Have nothing to do with needs
As streams of consciousness flow past
While poor human automatons
Think not of deeper things
Of why they do what they do

Are you doing it for a living or for a life?
Will you regret today when you are dying?
Is muscle memory and instinct the same as thinking?

Sometimes I don't know what I am feeling
Anti-social desires to stay home
Draw the curtains close and read thick fat books all day long
Freely write streams of nonsensical things by the light of the Moon
Sometimes introversion seems to be the most liberating
The needs of life however require extroversion
That we be part of society
Smile politely at a cousin's commentary
Join a choir and sing the group's melody

Is what you are experiencing today for a living or for a life?
Will you regret today when you are dying?
Is muscle memory and instinct the same as thinking?

Smile at the neighbours
Be friendly at gatherings
Put the best face forward
Sometimes it is the only face allowed
Then within the private recesses of the mind
The silent reviews emerge
Sometimes not trying so hard
To be a part of regular society
Is the best thing there is

Is what you are doing today for a living or for a life?
Will you regret today when you are dying?
Is muscle memory and instinct the same as thinking?
