A River In Egypt

the phone it is my enemy
it gives me bad news it gives me sorrow
heebie-jeebies and a fucking headache
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
five frigging thousand times a day

the phone it is my enemy
it gives me heartaches it gives me a bleeding ulcer
fucking phone obituaries and sounds of death
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
five frigging thousand times a day

the phone it is my enemy
it twists my words over the wires and waves
miscommunication and crossed lines, the sounds of hate
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
five frigging thousand times a day

so guess what I did I slammed the fucking thing
against the bleeding wall last week
slammed it slammed it slammed it hard I did
no more ring ring bloody ring
only wires, fuses and little pieces of plastic
a useless sim card collecting all my messages
such freedom I feel
and terror at being incommunicado

what do I do now that I have killed all communication?
I need my ring ring ring ring bloody ring, a goddamn fix please
five frigging thousand times a day
I am a phone junkie and I need those stories of death and destruction
I need to hear your sorrow and listen to your pain
For mine's too scary too handle
I need a ring ring ring bloody ring, someone give me a fix please
GIVE ME A PHONE GODDAMMIT!

The thinking's too loud in here all of a sudden
