1951...Not

There were a few screams
A few silent tears
Grannies moaning softly
Crying over what was to come
Young women sitting frozen in their seats
Not knowing what was to be
And the men, the men sat still
Carved in obstinately stubborn stone
They came here to live
They came here to to escape persecution
To have a life, happiness, family
But what happened was evil
They got cheated
They got swindled
And then they became illegal
And the full force of the law came down on them
Whilst the cheats and the swindlers
They went laughing all the way to the bank
They had money, they had style
But what they did not have
Was soul
